In this cryptoulog, we playful ponder on whether Burgerswap which is a tool similar to Uniswap but hosted on the Binance smart chain, incited the inception of Uniswap’s governance, hence the birth of its $UNI (a governance token), which was airdropped recently to Uniswap users.
In a previous video here, we looked at Burgerswap for the first time and noticed that it has a governance layer that made it quite a standout in comparison to Uniswap, combined with the fact that it is hosted on the Binance smart chain, which do not have the barriers inherent to Uniswap (ETH), like high-fees, congestion and slow-speed yet can interoperate with ETH, via metamask.
Days later, Uniswap has a governance layer and a respective governance token in the form of $UNI, which was airdropped to Uniswap users, to spark a community-based governance layer on Uniswap, bring it on par with Burgerswap.
Will this hamper the growth of Burgerswap or not, considering that Burgerswap works with Ethereum’s metamask and is compatible overall with Ethereum? Now, the idea of staking may not be new to Uniswap inventors but did the existence of burgerswap, influence the timeliness of the $UNI birth and did it incite its airdrop?
Will Burgerswap eventually do a drop in $BURGER to Burgerswap users? Is that still possible, considering that they have already launched their token? Will you be ready, just in case? How do you get ready?
